Vegetarian Society of Richmond

The Vegetarian Society of Richmond will have our booth at the Chili Cookoff (102.1 The X) again this year. It is a great event and we always have a lot of fun!  Every year we give out somewhere upwards of 40 GALLONS of vegetarian chili.
We’re the only vegetarian(vegan!) booth there and the crowd is typically different from what you might find at an Earth Day festival.  This venue is perfect for touching many people that would not otherwise have even considered trying a vegetarian dish. The tasters usually break out into the following groups (in order of size):
•People who have no plans to go vegetarian but are willing to try all of the chili including ours.
•People who are not vegetarians but like food or like eating healthy and so are very interested in trying the chili.
•People who are adamantly NOT vegetarian and want you to know that.
•Vegetarians (or near vegetarians) who happen to be at the cookoff but can’t eat anything else there. 
Ideally, we would like volunteers to sign up for 4-hour sessions: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.; 12 p.m. –  4 p.m.; 4 p.m. –  8 p.m. If you or someone you know could help us out during one of those periods, please email me.
 We are setting up the booth usually from about 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. We may even need one or two people on Friday early afternoon – early evening to help with an initial setup of the booth.
 Also, please let us know if anyone has access to a truck for transport on both Friday and Saturday evenings for our sign, our cow, etc.
